BoJ’s 2023 release tilo is a collection of summer songs created in the middle of a dreary Wisconsin winter. Opening track August moves through an imaginary summer season ending with Janes Ride out West.
Aprils Fools, recorded over a 4 month period in early 2022. Incorporates tank drums, handpans and other tuned metallic percussion. A somewhat more austere writing approach was taken with this particular project. The opening track Aprils Fools leads the rest of the album to take one on a wandering path through sonic landscapes.
From the opening afro-shuffle of 4(X2+Y2-Ax)3=27A2(X2+Y2)2 to the gondola boat ride of Gondolieri, BoJs 2021 non-titled release is a journey of rhythmic/harmonic beauty.
Title says it all on this BoJ release. No angles or hard edges with this release. Music sounds as if there’s a fog surrounding it or as if the sounds are covered in a thin, multi-layered gauze. Perfect for a lonely night.
